Center the Soundbar Below the TV
Line the soundbar up with the middle of the screen so that dialogue seems to come from the picture. If it sits off to one side, voices drift and the left and right channels stop matching what you see.
Place it on a flat, stable surface at the front edge of your stand. If the TV sits low, the soundbar may end up below ear level, so a slight upward tilt toward your seat can help. Some soundbars ship with small feet or a stand for this.

Keep the Sound Path Clear
Anything in front of the soundbar can muffle it. Plants, decor, game cases, and cabinet doors all absorb or block sound, especially the clear high frequencies that carry speech.
If your TV stand is a shelf with a lip, pull the soundbar forward so it is not tucked behind the edge or under the TV bezel. Even an inch of extra clearance can make dialogue sound less boxed in. Check your manual too, since some models need space around the vents.
Wall Mounting a Soundbar
If the TV is on the wall, mounting the soundbar just below it keeps the sound centered on the screen. Use the bracket and screws that came with the soundbar, and fasten them into studs or the correct wall anchors for the weight.
Make sure it is level and does not rattle against the wall, because vibration blurs bass. If the soundbar ends up very high, aim it down slightly or consider placing it on a shelf below the TV instead. Sound that arrives from far above head height tends to feel distant.

Placing Rear Speakers and a Subwoofer
If your system includes rear speakers, put them to the sides of or slightly behind your seating position, a little above ear level, and angled toward the main seat. That creates a surround effect without the sound feeling like it comes from one spot.
A wireless subwoofer is more flexible, so try a few locations near the front of the room. Play a bass-heavy track, walk around, and pick the spot where the bass sounds smooth rather than boomy.
